Eric Lu, a 20-year-old from Boston in the United States, won the first prize and also the Hallé orchestra prize at 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition after a "sparkling and supremely confident performance" (Guardian Music 16/09/18) of Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto. "Beethoven’s fourth is such a miraculous piece; it was an inspiration and a joy to play", said Eric. His performance can be viewed online on Medici TV's website.
